When we started SWOOP in mid-2014 I intuitively felt that our time had come. The shift towards networks and collaboration to increase organizational agility and performance had been underway for some time, but organizations had little to guide their investment in terms of measurement. That was the what we set out to change. With SWOOP we wanted to help organizations improve collaboration and help each individual become a better collaborator and communicator.
Fast forward to 2017 and things have been moving really fast. We now have customers in US, Europe and Australia that include some of the biggest brands in the world. We’ve also just become the first analytics partner for Workplace by Facebook globally.
With that our team is also expanding, and today I would like to introduce you to Sharon (an acclaimed ex-journalist) and James (ex Community Manager at Kellogg) who are the latest two highly talented people who have joined the SWOOP family in externally facing roles in North America and in Europe.
Actually, why don’t I let them introduce themselves to you:
Sharon Dawson – North America
I moved to Seattle, Washington in late 2015 from Australia with my husband and two children. I have worked as a journalist since 1996, primarily with Australian Associated Press (AAP) where I worked in the Sydney, Canberra and London bureaus.
I’ve covered Olympic and Commonwealth Games, worked in the Australian federal press gallery, covered Australian federal elections and been a sports correspondent for many years. I worked as a Communications Officer for a NSW State Government Department before moving to the United States.
I’m excited to join the SWOOP Analytics team as we continue our expansion into the US market. My role with SWOOP is Director, External Relationships and External Communication. I’m here to keep you up-to-date on what’s happening at SWOOP and help guide you with any questions you have. I’m loving the lifestyle the Pacific North West offers and enjoy skiing every weekend.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts (Communication Studies) from The University of Newcastle.
James Tyer – Europe
Originally from the UK, grown up in Canada but now back in the UK, I have helped people collaborate and learn together for the last 15 years. I like to keep things practical, simple, and immediately applicable to real life situations, and I love to facilitate connection and conversation, whether online or in person. I will suggest appropriate digital technology to help speed up or scale collaboration or learning efforts.
Until recently, I was the Global Lead for Digital Collaboration at Kellogg’s, but over the years, I’ve worked in L&D, HR and IT for tech consultancies, startups, membership associations, PwC, and a large university.
I’m trained and experienced in facilitation, instructional design, leadership development, community management, design thinking, organisational design, and lean/agile methodology.
At SWOOP I have joined as Director of Customer Success Europe, so will be working with all of our customers in this lovely part of the world on getting the most out of SWOOP and in turn the most out of your investment in collaboration.
