We want you to join SWOOP Analytics’ 2023 M365 & Microsoft Teams benchmarking study

Are you using the Microsoft 365 suite of products but unsure if you’re getting the most value from them? SWOOP Analytics guides people, leaders and organisations on how to best balance the use of Microsoft Teams features such as chat, channels, video, screen sharing, and when to use Yammer, OneDrive, SharePoint and Outlook to collaborate to achieve better business outcomes using M365.

We know what goals you need to aim to achieve because SWOOP Analytics conducts the world’s most comprehensive analysis into collaboration habits on M365 and Microsoft Teams. By identifying what good practice looks like, we can guide you on what you should be achieving across your organisation.

We’re preparing for SWOOP’s 2023 M365 & Microsoft Teams benchmarking analysis and we want you to join in! Even better news for you – it’s free! By joining SWOOP’s benchmarking, we’ll provide you with a custom report authored by SWOOP’s Chief Scientist Dr Laurence Lock Lee. This custom report compares the results of your M365 and Teams network with all other participating organisations. We will identify the top collaboration champions in your organisation, along with the best departments in your organisation, so you can learn from those within your own business. Dr Lock Lee will provide a qualitative summary of your organisation’s strengths and areas for improvement.

You’ll also be able to immediately see how your organisation compares with the rest of the world and which digital behaviours you excel at, and which need a boost. SWOOP benchmarking is free and your data remains anonymous. Only you will know how you compare, unless you are identified as a collaboration champion and give permission to be named.

SWOOP’s benchmarking also gives a valuable annual snapshot of how the world’s organisations are using M365 and Teams. In 2021, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we undertook the most comprehensive benchmarking study of Microsoft Teams usage, involving 33 organisations across the world and more than 100,000 digital teams. Our overriding finding was that organisations had largely not learned how to use digital teams. For the large part, back then, Teams was being used as a Skype replacement for online meetings and chat.

In 2022 we published our first Microsoft 365 benchmarking study covering the usage patterns of Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Yammer/Viva Engage, SharePoint and OneDrive. Usage patterns were characterised as digital habits. Our key findings found the majority of organisations were missing out on the extreme value opportunities provided by astute use of Microsoft’s collaborative environment.

This year SWOOP will be combining our Microsoft Teams and M365 benchmarking studies into a single analysis. Not only will we be able to provide the broad-based benchmarking across the full M365 suite, but selectively dive down into the detail of Teams usage, with Teams being positioned as the hub for all collaborative activity.

In our 2021 and 2022 benchmarking studies, we were encouraged enough by the “elite” groups and teams that were already delivering extreme business value to their respective organisations through their collaborative behaviours. As we move into a more entrenched flexible/hybrid working style, we are keen to again uncover and share what best practices are emerging as organisations continue to experiment with what works and what doesn’t.

Want to join our 2023 benchmarking?

To participate in SWOOP’s 2023 benchmarking study, you will need to have your M365 tenant connected to SWOOP’s data miners by March 30, 2023. SWOOP does not collect personally identifiable data, only metadata on digital interactions that are occurring over a three to six-month period. Individuals, teams and groups are identified by ID numbers only. If a team or group is identified by SWOOP as high performing, we may contact you for optional identification and to ask if you are interested in providing a case study for the report.

Over the past eight years we have had hundreds of organisations agree to participate in our benchmarking studies. The overriding value they identify with is the ability to assess just “how good or bad” they are when assessed against our measured best collaboration practices. Without this baseline they believe they are “flying blind”.

A second value identified is when SWOOP identifies best performing groups or teams within organisations. For larger organisations, it is often the case that these high performers are not visible to senior executives. Being able to tell their stories internally is a boon to driving adoption of better collaboration practices.

Finally, in return for participating in the study, participating organisations who are not current customers will be provided with an extended free trial (one month) of the SWOOP software for M365 and Microsoft Teams. Free access to SWOOP customer success resources to help you gain the most from your experiences will also be made available.
